2 men in court for allegedly stealing vehicle worth N3.8 million

Lagos, July 25, 2017(NAN) Two men- Rabiu Rasaki, 46, a panel beater, and Sakiru Adeogun, 47, a painter, were on Tuesday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing their customer’s car valued at N3.8 million.
The two defendants who live at Orile Agege, a suburb of Lagos, are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed on Oct. 29 ,2016 at Amoo St., Orile Agege, Lagos.
Ogu said that the complainant, Mr Yomi Ogunusi, gave his Toyota hilux to Rasaki for repairs.
“Rasaki gave it to Adeogun to first panel beat the vehicle before spraying it.
“According to Adeogun, he took the vehicle home and the next day he could not find it, “he said.
Ogu said that the complainant was informed and he reported the case at the police station.
“The two accused persons were arrested and they promised to search for the car, but nine months after, nothing has happened.
“Hence, the complainant want both accused persons prosecuted, the car valued was at N3.8 million, “he said.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 285 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The two defendants , however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250,000 each, with two sureties in like sum .
Akanni adjourned the case until Aug. 16 for mention. (NAN)
