2 men in court over alleged N2 million gold necklace theft

Ikorodu (Lagos State), June 25, 2018 (NAN) Two men, Justice Chinonso and Dayo Oyebowale, who allegedly burgled a gold store and stole necklace worth N2 million, appeared at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Monday.

Chinnoso, 23 and Oyebowale, 25, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

According to the Prosecutor, Sgt. John Iberedem, the accused committed the offences on June 5 at Ikorodu Community.

Iberedem said the accused stole the necklace from the complainant, Mr Yahaya Mukaila.

“The accused stole the necklace and absconded after the complainant left them in the shop to go and and ease himself.

“Few days later, one of the accused, disguised and came back to the shop, but the complainant recognized him and raised alarm.

“He was later arrested alongside his accomplice and were handed over to the police for questioning,” he said.

The accused pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties in like sum.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs F.A. Azeez said the sureties should provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

In addition, the sureties should provide their Lagos State Residency Registration Identity Card.

The case was adjourned until June 12 for mention. (NAN)
