Man, 20, docked for allegedly stealing valuables, cash

Ikorodu (Lagos State), March 19, 2020 (NAN) A 20-year-old man, Olowu Michael, on Thursday, appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing valuables worth N38,900 and N23,000 cash.
Michael, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Takunbe Omotola, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with other persons, still at large, on March 8, at Ikorodu roundabout.
Omotola said that the defendant stole a wrist watch, valued at N2,500, a necklace, valued at N3,000, an Itel phone, valued at N34, 000 and N23,000 belonging to Mr Kinsley Odo.
He said that the offences contravened Section 411 and 287 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing, while Section 411 provides two years for conspiracy.
The Magistrate, Mr Tunji Dawodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Dawodu, thereafter, adjourned the case till April 23, for mention. (NAN)
