Kaltungo LGC in Gombe inaugurates 17 – man committee on personal hygiene

Kaltungo (Gombe) March 20, 2020 (NAN) Kaltungo Local Government Council in Gombe State has inaugurated a 17 – man committee on personal hygiene.
Inaugurating the committee at the Local Government secretariat in Kaltungo on Friday, Mr Mohammed Dantata, Secretary of the council, said the aim was to complement effort of government in controlling the outbreak of communicable diseases.
Dantata noted with concern,the present pandemic of Corona virus, saying this formed the basis for inaugurating such a committee to educate and sensitize the public on the importance of personal hygiene.
He said members of the committee were expected to visit all the 10 wards, traditional rulers, community leaders and schools, to enlighten people on the need to keep their environment clean.
Dantata said the Lincoln’s would provide logistics and other facilities needed to ensure success of the assignment.
He called on communities in the area to give the committee maximum cooperation to enable it succeed.
The council secretary commended Gov. Inuwa Yahaya for giving priority to the health sector, as well as executing meaningful programmes that would have positive impact on the people.
In her speech, Mrs Comfort Ndus, chairperson of the committee, commended the coincil for the initiative, which she said would go a long way in educating the public on the appropriate measures to ensure healthy living.
Ndus, who is also the Head of Department, Primary Health Care, Kaltungo Council,, said the committee would embark on awareness campaign in all the nook and crannies.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that on Feb. 27, Gombe State Ministry of Health issued a press statement on Corona virus, which enjoins the public to imbibe the habit of frequent hand washing and other hygiene etiquette. (NAN)
