Ado-Ekiti, Feb. 23, 2017 (NAN) Two men, Omodan Olabisi, 32, and Familugba Joseph,25, accused of stealing petroleum products worth more than N4 million from a petrol station, on Thursday appeared in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court.
They both pleaded not guilty to the theft charge brought against them.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Caleb Leranmo, told the court that the accused and others now at large committed the offence sometime in July 2016, at Fortune filling station, Basiri in Ado-Ekiti.
He said that the accused, both staff of filling station, stole petrol valued N4 million.
Leranmo said that the accused also stole Kerosene valued N388, 300 and gas valued N284, 760, property of one Ajayi Iyalode, Managing Director of Fortune fuel.
According to him, the offences are punishable under Section 390 (6) of Criminal Code Cap C16 Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor applied for a short adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
Defence Counsel, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, applied for bail of the accused persons, promising the court that they would show up for trial.
The Chief Magistrate , Mr Adesoji Adegboye, granted the duo N 400,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Adegboye said that the sureties, one of whom must be a civil servant, must have verifiable addresses.
The magistrate adjourned the case till March 31 for further hearing. (NAN)
