Benin, April 10, 2020 (NAN) Ms Efosa Uyigue, Special Adviser on Gender Issues to Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo, on Friday urged women to guide their wards well  to avoid exposure to Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Uyigue, who gave the advice while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin, said women had major role to play at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among their wards.
”As governments battle to contain and curb the spread of Coronavirus, women stand as the best teachers in inculcating morals to their wards.
”They should ensure that they have total control of their children at this period in order not to violate government directives on the fight against COVID-19.
”Women should keep their homes clean and adhere to all the precautionary measures spelt out by the state government.
”As home keepers, women and their wards should ensure regular washing of hands and maintain social distancing.
”By so doing, they would be helping the government to contain and curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemics in Edo,” she said.
Uyigue said that women and their wards had special relationship as they related to one another closely.
She said that women should co-operate with the government on the temporary relocation of markets in the state as the government was making sure that the markets were properly fumigated.
Uyigue said that the government was doing everything possible to cushion the effect of the hardship COVID-19 pandemic brought to the state.
She said that women should talk to their wards to adhere to precautionary measures prescribed by medical experts, adding that the government expected them too to adhere to the measures.” she said.
