Omu-Aran (Kwara) April 15, 2020 (NAN) The Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara, said on Wednesday that it had introduced e-learning teaching method for its students due to the lockdown in the state which affected its academic activities.

The Registrar of the university, Miss Fola Oyinloye, made the disclosure in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

According to her, the e-learning is part of the university’s efforts toward ensuring continuous academic activities as the lockdown lasts.

Oyinloye said that the newly reformed e-learning was to assist in scaling the uncertainty of fulfilling the institution’s academic calendar.

She said the students had been away from campus since the government’s stay-at-home directives over the deadly virus late March.

The registrar said the online-based learning began on Tuesday, sequel to the approval of the management, headed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Olayanju.

“An e-learning structure has been put in place by Landmark University to ensure that students are academically engaged while the lockdown lasts.”

“The university’s e-learning service platform has since been complementing classroom activities where students access lecture notes, take and submit classwork and assignments, among other academic engagements.

“It is, therefore, a familiar terrain for both students and lecturers to interact hitch-free.

“By extension, the e-lecture is to bridge the geographical gap created by the mandatory school closure between the students and their lecturers with the use of virtual tools to facilitate learning.

“While it offers the students the opportunity to attend classes in the confine of their homes, they are mandated to strictly adhere to the e-lecture timetable provided by the university to capture student attendance and compliance,” she added.

Oyinloye enjoined the university community to give feedback on their engagement on the platform for the first week, in order to evaluate the exercise thereby enhancing the delivery of quality education in the university.

“As we put in final logistics to the commencement of the e-lecture, we wish to request our esteemed members of faculty to kindly ensure that only official email: (@lmu.edu.ng) is engaged in communicating information to students,” she said. (NAN)
