Akure, 21, 2020 (NAN) Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Monday approved the setting up of a special committee for the mass production of nose masks to be distributed to residents of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the planned committee was a fallout from the decision taken at the virtual meeting of the southwest governors, held on April 18.
The governors had also resolved that putting on masks would be made compulsory for every person in all the southwest states, starting from Friday, April 24.
Akeredolu said the exercise was part of the efforts designed to contain any further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
The committee has Gani Muhammed as Chairman, while Folake Aladenola will serve as Secretary.
Other members include Niyi Ale, President, Ondo state chapter of the National Union of Tailors, Eunice Oparinde and Sarah Emmanuel.
The governor said the committee would, among other things, source materials for the production of the masks, identify good tailors in the three senatorial districts and device a strategy for the distribution of the masks to all the residents of the state. (NAN)
