COVID-19: Association donates 20,000 hand sanitizers to Katsina State residents

Katsina, April 21, 2020(NAN) The Katsina State chapter of the Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria has donated 20,000 hand sanitizers to the Katsina State Government for distribution to its residents .
It said that it was its contributions in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The Chairman of the association, Alhaji Lawal Garba, handed over the items to Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, the Chairman Katsina State COVID-19 Emergency Response Committee on Tuesday in Katsina.
Garba said that the sanitizers should be given to the residents of the state, particularly, the poor.
He said that the gesture was aimed at complementing government’s efforts in fighting the pandemic across the state.
The chairman urged the people of the state to continue to adhere to the rules and regulations of health experts on preventive measures in fighting the pandemic.
The Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, who received the items on behalf of the state government, thanked the association for the gesture.
He assured the association that the sanitizers would be distributed to the targeted people.
Yakubu, who is also the state Deputy Governor, urged other associations and philanthropists in the state to emulate the gesture by donating either in cash or materials to fight the pandemic.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state government had raised about N241 million cash donations from philanthropists and organisations to fight the pandemic.(NAN)
