Kano, May 9,2017(NAN)The National Office of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has trained 7,000 unemployed youths on “Digital Training for Youth Empowerment” in Kano.
The Senior Special Assistant to the president on SDGs, Mrs Adejoke Adefulire disclosed this while addressing the participants in Kano on Tuesday.
She said that the training was organised by SDGs office in collaboration with the Kano State Government.
She said the participants would receive a one day-training on Google digital skills.
The SSA who was represented by the secretary of SDGs, Alhaji Waziri Lamido, called on the participants to make the best use of the opportunity and utilise the knowledge they have acquired to achieve self-sustainability.
She also said that the training would be conducted simultaneously in six designated centers across the state.
Earlier, the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje commended the SDGs office for organising the training which would go along way in making the participants self-reliant.
He said the participants were selected from the 44 local governments of the state pointing out that 40 per cent of them were females while the remaining 60 percent were males.
He called on the participants to make good use of the opportunity as the programme was aimed at providing them with necessary skills for self employment.
He said that the state government had set aside N2.4 billion in 2017 budget for the execution of various SDGs projects in the state.
The governor then restated his administration’s commitment to youth and women empowerment in the state.
Aliyu Sadik, who spoke on behalf of the trainees said the training would expose them on how to manage social media in addition to transacting business. (NAN)
