Jigawa sets aside N164m for infrastructure in schools

Dutse, July 21, 2017 (NAN) The Jigawa Government has set aside N164 million to provide equipment and execute capital projects in science secondary schools across the state.

Malam Yakubu Ado, the Executive Secretary, Jigawa Science and Technical Schools Board (JSTSB), disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Friday.

He said that the money would be spent on 11 schools in the local government areas in the three senatorial districts of the state.

Ado said that N98 million would be spent on building more hostels and classrooms, while N8 million would be spent on furniture.

He said that N53 million would be expended on provision of ICT materials, while N5 million would be used to buy beddings for students.

The executive secretary said that there were 8, 613 students in the state science and technical schools, adding that 2, 330 were female, while 6, 283 were male.

Ado said that the state was determined to produce many doctors, engineers and scientists, hence the determination to invest big sum of money in science students. (NAN)
