Kaduna, July 24, 2017 (NAN) The Air Force Institute of Technology Kaduna is to hold its 46th convocation on July 28, its Commandant, AVM Isyaka Bukar has said.
Bukar said at a press conference in Kaduna on Monday that 247 students comprising officers and men of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air force and civilians will graduate during the event.
He said that the institute runs 15 programmes at diploma level.
The commandant said a lecture titled: “Contemporary Issues in Aircraft Maintenance in the 21st Century’’ will be delivered on Thursday by Mr Olatunji Agoro, Director, Quality and Safety, Dornier Aviation.
He announced that Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, would serve as Special Guest at the event.
According to Bukar, 15 students will graduate from School of Post Graduate Studies, 160 from School of Air Engineering and 72 from School of Ground Engineering and Management Studies.
He said that all the courses of the institute had been accredited by the National Board for Technical Education, National Universities Commission and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
Bukar disclosed that a bill to make the institution autonomous is currently before the National Assembly.
“It is anticipated that the passage of the bill and its eventual signing into law will attract funding to the institute, thus positioning it to better achieve its objectives,” he said.
The commandant expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his unflinching support to NAF and commended the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar for his untiring efforts to develop the institute. (NAN)
