Ministry of Transportation set to review transport policy

Warri, Aug.8, 2017(NAN) Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi says the ministry is set to review its transport policy and performance in transport and logistics.

Amaechi, who spoke to the News Agency Nigeria (NAN) in Warri  on Monday, said that the existing policy was no longer current and needed to be reviewed and approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

“We want to review our transport policy, we also want to review our performance in transport and logistics and look at the way forward, what we intend to achieve in the next one year.

“It will bring a new face to transportation, we will decide what next to do to improve transportation, which will be held annually.

“We need to have a transport policy, what we have is not current, so we need to review it and take it to the cabinet for approval.

To this end, the Amaechi said the ministry had concluded arrangements to organise a national summit to get stakeholders input.

According to him, the summit will be held from August 28 to September 3 in Sokoto.

The minister also said that the summit would be held every year to proffer solution to some of the challenges in the transport sector. (NAN)
