Damaturu, Jan.25, 2017 (NAN) The Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative (PCNI) on Wednesday said it will establish offices in each of the North-Eastern states to coordinate interventions among stakeholders in the development of the region.
Alhaji Tujjani Tumsa, Vice Chairman, PCNI, stated this in Damaturu at a sensitization workshop organized for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) by the Center for Information Technology and Development (CITAD).
He said the Initiative had mapped out areas of collaboration to give every stakeholder, the opportunity to participate in the rebuilding process of the region.
The Vice Chairman said the state offices would coordinate collaborative efforts for the short, immediate and long term components of the Buhari plan for the North East.
“The short term targets immediate humanitarian assistance; the intermediate plan centers on relocation, rehabilitation and resettlement while the long term concentrates on economic development strategies.
“The CSOs have great role to play in the reconstruction and development of the North East and PCNI will coordinate the efforts to ensure participatory role for all,” he assured.
According to Tumsah, the initiative will partner with home-based CSOs to ensure effective service delivery and encourage ownership of programmes among the benefiting communities.
Dr Yusuf Zakari, Executive Director of CITAD, said the workshop was aimed at building synergy and partnership among collaborators to enhance efficiency in advocacy and service delivery. (NAN)
