Lagos, Jan. 26, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of one Godwin Ugbemi, 22, in Kirikiri Prison for alleged attempted robbery.

Ugbemi, an applicant, who resides in Abule-Egba area of Lagos State is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted robbery.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, who ordered the remand of the defendant, adjourned hearing of bail application till March 9.

The plea of the accused was, however, not taken.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha told the court that the offences were committed on Nov. 17, 2016 in Gbagada area of Lagos.

The prosecutor said that the accused persons and others still at large, were intercepted by the police on patrol at night on the same date.

“The accomplices escaped while the accused was apprehended; a pistol was found on him and he could not explain how he came about it,” Inuoha said.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 297(1) and 310(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
