Mokwa (Niger), Feb. 13, 2017 (NAN) The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Niger command, says it has cleared the road from Mokwa to Jebba which was blocked by articulated vehicles since Saturday.

The road was blocked due to an accident near Tatabu village.

Mr James Mbatse, FRSC Sector Commander, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday that personnel of the commission had created access for free traffic flow after the operation.

Mbatse said that the commission would continue to sensitise drivers to the ethics of road use through their unions.

He advised truck drivers to exercise patience while on the road, to avoid unnecessary gridlocks on the busy highway.

Malam Gimba Mohammad, a petrol tanker driver, told NAN that vehicles from the Jebba axis, which had remained stationary, since the occurrence of the accident,  were now moving freely.

”We thank the authorities concerned because we have started starving here from lack of food and water,” he said.
