LG chairman lauds Katsina State on fertiliser supply

Katsina June 21, 2019 (NAN) Alhaji Aliyu Jarkuka, the Chairman, Sandamu Local Council in Katsina on Friday commended the government of Aminu Masari for procurement and delivery of fertiliser to the area.
Jarkuka made the commendation in Sandamu, when he launched the formal sales and distribution of the fertiliser in the area.
He described as encouraging that farmers got the commodity early this year, unlike last year when there was a delay in the sales and distribution of the commodity till August.
According to him, the council has recently received delivery of 10,502 bags of the fertiliser and has since started sales and distribution across the 118 polling units in the council.
Malam Aliyu Adamu, the Chairman of the Committee in charge of sales and distribution of the fertiliser in the area called on farmers to show evidence of payment to collect their allocation at the central local government store in Sandamu town.
Adamu said that the price of a bag of both NPK and Urea were pegged at the official price of N5, 000.
“We will strictly abide by the stipulated price as well as monitor closely cases of diversion or sharp practices by faceless individuals.”
He described the timely delivery of the fertiliser as clear indication of government commitments and determination toward promotion of agriculture, economic diversification and enhancement of food security and employment generation.
Agricultural activities are predominantly the occupation in the area with at least 90 per cent of residents into commercial and peasant farming. (NAN).
