Voters hail peaceful conduct of Governorship, Assembly polls in Daura

Daura (Katsina state) March 9 2019 (NAN) Some voters in Daura, Katsina State, have hailed the peaceful conduct of the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections on Saturday.
Although the turnout for the elections was not as large as it was during the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Feb. 23, voters commended Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) for despatching election materials timely for the polls.
They said due to the voting procedure was seamless because of the early commencement of the exercise.
Alhaji Yau Gwajo Gwajo, a former speaker of Katsina State House of Assembly, commended INEC for preparing well for the polls, especially in the area of logistics, which made the early commencement of the elections possible.
According to him, voting at Gwajo Gwajo A,B and C polling units have been smooth.
He said voters cast their votes easily as the smart card readers functioned well and the security personnel were professional in their conduct.
Alhaji Bello Jirdede ,an APC stalwart in Maiadua Local Government Area, expressed confidence that the elections would be peaceful, free and fair as every individual voter exercised their franchise without intimidation or molestation .
He commended the management of NYSC and INEC for proper and timely deployment of their staff which enabled timely commencement of the elections .
Malam Aliyu Sani,a party agent in Rindi Polling Unit in the area said he did not witness a single incident of vote buying ,stressing that the voters were behaving well.
President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha, cast their votes at 8:03 a.m. at their Kofar Baru 003 Polling Unit in Daura. (NAN)
