Bida (Minna), Feb. 24, 2017(NAN) Bida Local Government in Niger State on Friday said that it had secured five hectares of land for full scale commercial rice farming to boost its internal revenue generation.
Mohammed Bagudu, the Chairman of the council, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bida.
He said that the measure was part of the council’s efforts to boost internal revenue generation of the council.
Bagudu said that the council was partnering with the National Cereal Research Institute in Badeggi on technical advice for bumper harvest.
He said that the council would produce wheat season and dry season rice with the technical advice from the research institute.
“We are also utilising our agriculture department for massive rice cultivation to enable us increase our internally generated revenue for capital projects,” he said.
“We have reorganised our revenue department to ensure improved service delivery,” said. (NAN)
