Abuja, Sept.18, 2017 (NAN) Ms Diana Blackpearl, Holland-based top model, says plans are underway to showcase the creativity of African designers in Europe.
Blackpearl, who is also the Chief Executive of ‘Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam’, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of the Tozali African Fashion and Cultural Week in Abuja.
“We are also setting up a programme that will involve sending African designers to European countries to interact with others and improve themselves.
“This will definitely help boost their creativity and also create markets for their products and designs abroad,” Blackpearl said.
She gave the assurances that buyers from Europe would be invited to participate and patronise indigenous designers in the next edition of Tozali African Fashion, Cultural Week in Nigeria.
Similarly, Maimuna Abubakar, fashion expert and co-organiser of the event, said sending African designers abroad would exposed them to the new techniques in the global fashion industry.
“It will add more value to their creativity and designs.
Abubakar who spoke further on the ‘Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam,’ said it comprised of groups of international partners in the fashion and creative industry based in Holland.
“We work with other international partners and you can see that during our event here, people from France, Amsterdam, London, Cameron and Ghana came around.
“We are also working with many fashion institutes in the Netherland to connect them with indigenous designers from Africa.
She said that the just concluded fashion week held in Abuja was to promote African culture, fashion, talents and arts.
“What we want to achieve with the show is to push African fashion designers, talents and artistes to the global stage of creative endeavours,” Maimuna said. (NAN)
