Bus conductor

Lagos, April 23, 2018 (NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday released a bus conductor, Anayo Nweke, on N200,000 bail, charged with stealing two television sets worth N191,000.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule Amzat, while granting the accused bail, said he should provide two sureties in like sum.
Amzat said the sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government as part of the bail conditions.
The 44-year-old, bus conductor, who resides at Ikotun, a Lagos suburb, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing brought against him.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Benson Emuerhi, said the accused and others now at large committed the offences at No. 51, Liasu Road, Idimu in Ikotun area at 1.30 a.m. on March 16.
He alleged that the accused and others broke into the shop of the complainant, Mr Okwose Sylvester through the ceiling, to steal.
“`The complainant saw people gathered in front of his shop and discovered his shop had been burgled by the accused who was earlier apprehended by security guards while his accomplices ran away.”
Emuerhi said items taken away included one LG 43-inch flat screen television and an LG 32- inch flat screen television, all valued at N191,000 belonging to the complainant.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 307 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The case has been adjourned until July 5 for trial. (NAN)
