Welfare

Bwari (Abuja), June 10, 2019 (NAN) The Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Mr John Gabaya has promised to improve the welfare of staff of the Council to enhance their productivity.
The chairman stated this during a Congress of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) chapter of the council on Monday in Abuja.
He said that his administration would ensure that things were done right in order to achieve the progress of the council.
“Welfare of staff is our responsibility. I urge all Heads of Departments to always remember their staff on issues of welfare because whether we like it or not, it is in our hands.
“We are ready to work for the people and in the process, whenever we go astray, please call us to order and we will listen because together we stand and divided we fall.
“I am not happy when I see the working condition we find ourselves in.
“I see staff come to work and have no chairs to sit on or how do we begin to talk about the leaking ceiling in our records office where water soak our files.
“This is not the way to work but I promise that, by the grace of God, we will put all these in order so that we all can work in comfort.”
Gabaya also cautioned both staff and political appointees against truancy while urging them to ensure they leave good legacies behind.
He said that his administration would not tolerate absenteism from work.
He added that no political appointee who lacked in his or her service to the people would be spared.
According to him, his administration would not hesitate to replace any appointee if after three months they do not prove their worth.
The chairman also called on Heads of Departments to work in good relationships with their subordinates.
He said that carrying junior staff along does not mean disrespect but gives back a lot of respect to the superior officer.
Earlier, Mr Danlami Anyadalo, Chairman, NULGE chapter of the council, said that it was a good thing that the meeting was attended by the Chairman.
Gabaya’s presence, he said, gave the Congress an opportunity to relate the ill state of the council.
Anyadalo, while welcoming the new administration, tasked the chairman on fixing the house which he described as being in disarray.
The meeting had in attendance the Vice Chairman of the council, Mr Musa Aliyu, Mr Eli Peter, Secretary of the council, Heads of all the departments and members of staff. (NAN)
