Ilorin, May 29, 2018 (NAN) The Chief Imam of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Prof. AbdulRaheem Hamzat, has stressed the need for tolerance among Nigerians for the country to develop.
Hamzat spoke on Tuesday in Ilorin at the 10th Annual Ramadan lecture and Special Award organised by Sheikh Mukhtar Isalekoto Islamic Foundation.
In his lecture entitled, “Building an Ideal Personality for a Better Society: The Islamic Perspective,’’ Hamzat said the country would not develop when citizens do not tolerate and appreciate their cultural differences.
“We should always be accommodating one another for us to progress as a nation.
“It is high time we understood that we have individual differences coupled with differences in our culture.
“So, we should always take these into consideration while dealing with each other,’’ he said
The professor of Arabic said that there were some qualities that were required for an ideal Muslim personality.
“These attributes include godliness, self-esteem, tolerance, belief in Islamic identity as well as moderation,’’ he said. (NAN)
