Cooperation
Rabat, Sept. 25, 2019 (Xinhua/NAN) Morocco and Turkmenistan on Wednesday set up a joint commission to boost bilateral cooperation, the Moroccan news agency reported.
The decision was announced during a meeting between Morocco’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Mounia Boucetta and Turkmenistan Foreign Minister, Rasit Meredow in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan’s capital.
The two countries stressed the need to deepen political relations and develop a fruitful cooperation in the economic and cultural areas.
The meeting also focused on the need to develop cooperation in tourism, mining, handicrafts, the pharmaceutical industry and renewable energies.
In a similar development, Morocco and Luxembourg held an economic meeting in Casablanca, Morocco’s economic hub, to discuss boosting bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg and Minister of Economy, Etienne Schneider, said his country’s quest to intensify its cooperation with Morocco was because of its strategic position.
Schneider said Luxembourg seeks to benefit from Morocco’s position as a gateway to Africa, as both countries were willing to set up a joint commission that would act as a platform for dialogue, consultation and cooperation.
The Moroccan Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy, Moulay Elalamy, expressed desires to develop a tripartite relationship between both countries and the African continent.
He added that Morocco, with its strong cultural, economic and financial roots with African partners, was a good platform for developing quality relations with the entire continent. (Xinhua/nan)
