Counsel frowns at defendant’s delay tactics in wrongful termination of appointment suit

Abuja, July 4, 2017 (NAN) Mr Chijioke Agu, the counsel representing Mr Basil Housseou, a former French teacher at Famaks International Schools, Abuja, has expressed displeasure at the defendant’s counsel alleged delay tactics in the suit.
Housseou had dragged his employer to the National Industrial Court, Abuja, alleging that he was unjustly sacked by the school in 2013.
He prayed the court to declare the termination illegal and unconstitutional, and order the school to pay him all his entitlements.
At the resumed hearing of the suit before Justice Ebeye Isele, the teacher’s lawyer frowned at the multiple excuses by the school’s counsel, Mr A. Abbas in the matter.
Abbas had told the court that he was not ready; as he was unaware his witness would be cross-examined until that morning.
He also claimed that he encountered some hitches while filing some processes, to which the claimant’s counsel told the court he had made such excuses at the last adjourned date.
The judge, after considering their submissions, adjourned the case until Sept. 21 for continuation of cross-examination. (NAN)
