Court arraigns man over alleged mattress theft

Ile-Ife (Osun), May 2, 2019 (NAN) An Ile-Ife Magistrates’s Court in Osun on Thursday arraigned one Kolapo Oladimeji, 44, over alleged mattress theft.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in December 2018 at Oloyede Street, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said that the accused stole a 9-inches mattress valued at N51, 000, property of one Aderibigbe Oluwatosin.

He added that the accused converted the mattress to his own use.

According to him, the accused stole one Infinix zero handset valued at N35,000, property of one Aderibigbe Oluwatosin.

The Prosecutor stated further that the accused intimidated and threatened to kill one Aderibigbe Oluwatosin.

Osanyintuyi said that the offence contravened Sections 86, 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-counts charge of conspiracy, stealing and threat to life.

The Defence Counsel, Mrs Funmi Adigun, applied for the bail of the accused in the most liberal terms, adding that his client would not jump bail, but would produce substantial sureties.

Magistrate Olukunle Owolawi, however, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Owolawi added that sureties must swear to an affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, as well as produce three recent passport photographs.

He adjourned the case until May 27, for hearing. (NAN)
