Remand

Abuja, July 11, 2017 (NAN) A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday,
remanded two men, Lawal Suleiman and Abubakar Aminu in prison custody over alleged theft of phones and robbery of N1 million.
The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, ordered that the two be remanded till July 17, following
the prayer of prosecution, pending conclusion of investigations.
Suleiman, 18, a carpenter and Aminu, 27, a butcher, both live in Lugbe, FCT, and are
facing a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and robbery.
The prosecutor, Mr Augustine Urom, told the court that Ahmed Yunusa of Lugbe, FCT, reported the matter at Lugbe police station on June 21.
Urom said that on the same date at about 10 p.m., six men invaded his shop at Berger yard, FCT, where he sells phones.
He said the six men stole mobile phones from the shop after an encounter with him and also took away his N1 million cash.
The prosecutor added that one of the mobile phones, a Nokia brand, was recovered from the first defendant, Suleiman, noting that the offence was contrary to sections 97 and 298 of the Penal Code.
However, both defendants denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to the charges. (NAN)
