Remand

Lagos, Jan. 25, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 24-year-old man, Tunde Akanbi, in prison for allegedly robbing a motorcyclist at gun point.
The Chief Magistrate B. O Osunsanmi remanded the accused at Kirikiri Prisons, and adjourned the case till March 16 for consideration of his bail application.
Akanbi is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery of a motorcycle valued N240,000.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the offence was committed on Oct. 23, 2016 at Ifako Gbagada , a suburb of Lagos.
Inuoha said that the complainant, Kasimu Ali, was riding his motorcycle when the accused and one other now at large stopped him.
“The accused pointed a gun at the complainant and asked him to leave his motorcycle and run away from the place.
“The accused was sighted by the complainant and with the help of the police, he was apprehended, ” he said.
Inuoha sid the offences contravened sections 295(1) and 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused plea was not taken. (NAN)
