Abuja, Oct. 8, 2019 (NAN) Mr Ayo Muritala, the Managing Partner, KNEWROW has urged the public sector to create enabling environment for businesses in the country to thrive.
Muritala said this on Tuesday at the training organised for SMEs in Abuja to educate business owners on performance management.
The theme of the workshop is: ” Use of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) framework” put together by Financial System Strategy FSS 2020.
He said that for businesses to survive, the public sector must learn to do the right thing to give room for their development.
“Most public sector treat people that come to them for job as if the are doing them a favour.
“The way ministry workers treat files of individuals can kills business.”
Muritala advised them to make sure that they allowed the system work the way it should to build healthy business environment.
He urged them to improve on their performance and also develop KPIs for the ease of doing business in their respective ministries.
“This will lead the best results that will help grow the business sector which includes of the SMEs in Nigeria.”
He said that Nigerians do so well in strategy than implementation, saying the ideals were always good but what would it achieve?
The trainer urged the participants to apply the KPIs in their businesses to achieve the desire goals at the end of the set time.
He said that there was need for business owners to engage and motivate their employees toward goal achievement.
“If you cannot measure your business, you cannot manage your business because measurement would help you to plan, organise, coordinate, communicate and control performance,” he said.
Dr Anne Ugbo, the National Coordinator, Federated Women Association in Mirco and Medium Enterprises, said the training was done at the right time because business owners needed it most.
According to her, a lot of people think of the wrong reasons why their businesses fail without understanding the real reasons for the failure.
“ I have learnt a lot and I know that other participants have also learnt and we hope to use what we have learned to grow our business,” she said.
Mrs Ruth Agbo, the National President Association of Women in Trade and Agriculture (AWITA), commended the organiser of the programme and promised to make good use of the knowledge gained. NAN)
