Dust haze, partly cloudy atmosphere to prevail on Friday – NiMet

Abuja, Feb. 9, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze weather conditions with horizontal visibility range of two to five kilometres over the central states of the country on Friday.

NiMet gave the prediction in its Weather Outlook by the Central Forecast Office on Thursday in Abuja.

It also predicted that the region would have dry and night temperature of 32 to 36 degrees Celsius and 17 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

The agency predicted that southern states would experience cloudy to partly cloudy day with chances of isolated thunderstorms over the coastal cities of Lagos, Ijebu-Ode and Benin during the evening and night period.

It also predicted partly cloudy conditions over the south east in the morning hours and hazy situation later in the day with day and night temperatures of 34 to 37 and 23 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, northern states will experience dust haze conditions with visibility of two to five kilometres and less than or equal to 1000m over Yola, Potiskum, Nguru,
Dutse and Maiduguri.

“Northern states will also have day and night temperature values in the range of 30 to 37 and 12 to 18 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Dust haze conditions are expected over the north and central cities with visibility range of two to five kilometres.

“Partly cloudy conditions will prevail over the southern with chances of isolated thunderstorms over the south west coastal cities in the afternoon and evening period,” NiMet predicted. (NAN)
