Electrician bags 1 month imprisonment for causing hurt

Abuja, March 9, 2018 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Friday sentenced a 40-year-old electrician, Uwen Sunday, to one month imprisonment for inflicting injuries on his neighbour’s head.
Sunday, who resides at Kado village, Abuja, was convicted on a count charge of causing hurt, offence he admitted committing.
The judge, Sadiq Abubakar, however, gave the convict an option of N5,000 fine and warned him against taking to crimes again.
The prosecuting counsel, Mr Dalhatu Zannah, had told the court that one Robbert Emere of Kado village reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station on Feb. 20.
Zannah said that the convict accosted the complainant, and violently attacked him with his belt.
He said that the convict inflicted injuries on the complainant’s head with the belt.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the convict confessed to committing the crime.
He also said the offence violated Section 244 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
