Yola, May 3, 2017 (NAN) The Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa, Dr Sadiq Yahya, has said that the institution would establish a technology incubation centre to harness all its research works.
Yahya said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola on Wednesday.
According to him, the office will serve as a warehouse where all the research works carried out in the institution can be accessed to attain the objectives of the research works.
The rector said that the proposed centre would bring an end to the practice of keeping research works on the shelves.
He explained that the aim was to translate most of the research works, to address the challenges within the immediate environment.
Yahya said that the institution would also commercialise the research works and generate revenue for the institution for self-sustainability.
“Our quest to open a technology incubation office is to harness all important research works that are lying on the shelves and to showcase them as innovations and inventions.
“With the office, we will be able to commercialise our research works for the purpose of revenue generation as well as address the challenges within our local environment.
“If we can invent things like grinding machines here in Mubi, it will save the cost of importing such machines from China and elsewhere.
“These inventions will contribute immensely to the nation’s economic growth,’’ he said. (NAN)
