The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the ex-Speaker had filed legal action against 23 of his colleagues and State Attorney General to challenge his alleged unlawful impeachment.

Addressing the court, Mr Saleh Tirimizi, counsel to the former Speaker, said that his client had instructed him to discontinue the case.

Tirimizi said that he had already filed a notice to discontinue the case based on directive of his client.

“We have filed a notice to discontinue this suit in its entirety, meanwhile I also received a letter this morning from my client, who is also a claimant, disengaging my services”

“In view of this development, I wish to seek the indulgence of the court to strike out the matter we brought before it,” he said.

One of the defence counsel, Mr Sule Umar, applied for cost of action from the plaintiff’s counsel.

Umar said that the court should order the plaintiff’s counsel to pay N5 million as cost.

Similarly, Mr Abdullah Yaleman, counsel to 14th to 23rd respondents, also prayed the court to order the plaintiff counsel to pay N5 million as cost.
