Katsina State Police Command has 3,030 personnel shortfall – CP

Katsina, April 20, 2017(NAN) The Police Commissioner in Katsina State, Mr Usman Abdullahi, has said that the command has a shortfall of 3,030 personnel.

Abdullahi stated this on Thursday in Katsina when the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) supervising North-West zone, Mr Maigari Dikko, visited the command.

“The approved number of personnel for the command is 8,431, its present strength stands at 5,401, with a shortfall of 3,030.

“We need additional personnel to be able to cover the state effectively.

“We are also calling for the establishment of additional Area Commands in Dutsin-ma and Malumfashi,”
he said.

The commissioner also told the DIG that 418 suspects were arrested for various offences during the first quarter of the year across the state.

According to him, 223 have been charged to court, while the remaining cases were under investigation.

He also said that 11,040 animals were recovered from cattle rustlers following the successes recorded by the amnesty programme of the state government.

Abdullahi further said that the rustlers had surrendered about 300 arms to the security agencies in the state.

DIG Dikko said that the Force Headquarters was waiting for an approval to recruit more police officers for all the commands in the country.

He said that the Police Force would continue to accord top priority to welfare of officers and men to boost their morale for effective service delivery.(NAN)
