Lafia, Nov. 3, 2019 (NAN) Ahead of the Nov. 16 governorship election in Kogi, Ebira-speaking residents in Nasarawa State have held a special prayer for peace during and after the exercise.
Speaking during the programme on Sunday in Lafia, Yanusa Aliba, Odeyani Anebira of Nasarawa State, said that the prayer was to seek God’s intervention toward a peaceful conduct of the election.
He claimed that Kogi Central Senatorial district had been left out of governance for quite some time and appealed to other zones to support Gov Yahaya Bello’s quest for a second tenure
Also speaking, Alhaji Hassan Chatta, the Co-ordinator of the programme, said that Ebira-speaking people in Nasarawa had endorsed Bello for the second term “due to his records of achievements.”
Mrs. Hafsat Ibrahim, Woman Leader of Ebira people in Nasarawa State, commended Bello for tackling kidnapping, armed robbery and other crimes.
She also lauded the governor for road construction among others, stressing that the governor deserved a second term in office.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bello is the first Ebira native to become Governor of Kogi since the creation of the state from the old Kwara and Benue on Aug. 27, 1991.(NAN)
