Lagos Feb. 13, 2017 (NAN) Dapo Onamusi, the Accounts Director, Discover Brands Management, on Monday said that the forthcoming Lagos Beach Olympics will bring financial rewards to Lagos.

“We are happy to launch the Lagos Beach Olympics; an event which we believe is packaged for financial rewards for the participants, sponsors and the public.
“Lagos is fast turning into a sports hub and this is why we are working with the Lagos State Sport Commission to invest our resources in sports and entertainment.
“Throughout the event, sponsors are entitled to expose their brands on all Lagos Beach Olympics paraphernalia, such as gantries, inflatable displays, flags, banners, mascot outfits, costumes and jerseys,’’ Onamusi said.
He added that the event slated for March 3, was open for title sponsorship which would have the right to brand the event with the company name.
“A fee of N100 million will be paid to the sponsors, while the title sponsorship entitles the sponsor to the full spectrum of across media, branding, merchandising activation, and other negotiated platforms.’’
According to Onamusi, not lessthan 15 sports which have not been seen before will be competed for at the Lagos Beach Olympics.
“There is going to be so much of spectacular atmosphere with participants competing in events such as 50m sprint on sand.
“100m sprint on sand, 50m backward sprint, 50m sack race, 4×50 meters relay race, wheelbarrow race, high jump, long jump, triple jump, beach volleyball.
“There will also be tug of war, sumo wrestling, 20m truck tyre race, beach shot put and 50m drag race.
“The whole event promises to be fun and with over 300 participants drawn from different clubs in Lagos suburbs competing for the price money of N2.8 million,’’ he said.
Onamusi said the Lagos Beach Olympics would be a yearly competition, adding that it would be the biggest and most fascinating social and competitive beach sports event.
“We hope to have an attendance of over 6,000 spectators cheering their clubs and enjoying the colourful atmosphere.
“The Eko Atlantic City will witness the fun it is created for and with lasting memories in the minds of the spectators,’’ he said. (NAN)
