Man, 35, remanded for cheating

Minna, Sept. 15, 2017 (NAN) A Sharia Court in Minna, on Friday remanded a 35-year-old man, Usman Mohammed, standing trial for criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Police prosecutor, Insp. Cletus Ibrahim told the court that one Garba Idris of Barkin Sale, Minna reported the matter to the police on Sept. 9.

Ibrahim said the complainant bought a plot of land from the accused at the rate of N430, 000, but later another person laid claim to the same plot of land.

The prosecutor said all efforts by the complainant to retrieve his money from the accused had proved abortive.

The prosecutor said the action of the accused was contrary to sections 312 and 322 of the penal code law.

When the charge was read to the accused person, he pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.

The Judge, Ahmed Bima, reserved sentence till Sept. 18, and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison. (NAN)
