Minna, May 17, 2017 ( NAN) Brig. Gen. Moshood Olanrewaju, Commander, 31 Artillery Brigade of Nigerian Army in Minna, Niger State, says the brigade has trained 310 youths and women under its skill acquisition programme.
Olanrewaju told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday that the programme was aimed at training women and youths in the barrack on skills to enable them to get jobs and self employment.
He said that 100 women were trained in bead making, while 210 youths received training in inverter making and installation, tailoring and fashion designing.
The commander listed other areas of training to include hair dressing, barbing, leather works and shoe making as well as satellites installation.
“We have succeeded in producing a number of mini entrepreneurs to be self sufficient and contribute positively towards nation’s economic growth,’’ he said.
Olanrewaju promised that the brigade would continue to initiate policies and programmes that would create job opportunities for residents in the barrack. (NAN)
