Kure

Minna, Jan.14, 2017( NAN) Alhaji Isa Ashiru, a former member, House of Representatives, on Saturday said that the death of Abdulkadir Kure, was a loss to the Kure family and the nation at large.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Kure, a two-time Governor of Niger on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), died on Jan. 8 in a Germany Hospital at the age of 60.
Ashiru told NAN in Minna on Saturday that, ” The work of kure in Niger stands as a testimony to his commitment to grassroots development.’’
He further said that Kure’s death was a loss for the people of Niger state, the entire Nigerian youths and the political community.
“The nation has lost a powerful force for peace, democracy, people’s rights and a tireless advocate for peace, women, youth advancement and all those who are unable to realise their potential,’’ he said.
He said that such tremendous achievements earned him the respect of millions who were inspired by his commitment to democracy, women’s and youth empowerment, poverty reduction among others.
‘’He understood the deep connection between local and national problems, and helped to give ordinary citizens a voice.
‘’His legacy will stand as an example to all of us, to persist in our pursuit of common progress.
‘’His death has left a gaping among the ranks of northern political leaders, but he left behind a solid foundation for others to build upon.
He described Kure as an amiable, humble and easy-going gentleman who exhibited a high sense of responsibility in the service of God Almighty and his country. (NAN)
