NiMet predicts cloudy skies, rains on Friday

Abuja, June 15, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions over the central states of the country on Friday morning with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Jos, Abuja, Kaduna, Jalingo and Mambila Plateau.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO), on Thursday in Abuja gave the prediction.

It added that isolated thunderstorms were anticipated over the region in the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures of 26 to 33 and 18 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

The agency predicted that Southern states would experience morning cloudiness and rains over the coastal cities and later in the day with day and night temperatures of 29 to 31 and 21 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

It also predicted chances of localized thunderstorms over Port Harcourt, Owerri, Enugu, Umuahia, Calabar, Uyo, Eket, Obudu, Ikom, Warri, Asaba, Lagos, Ado, Akure, Ijebu-Ode, Benin and Yenagoa.

According to NiMet, northern states will experience partly cloudy conditions with prospects of localized thunderstorms over Kano, Katsina and Dutse in the morning hours.

“Later in the day, localized thunderstorms are not expected over Dutse, Kano and Katsina with day and night temperatures of 30 to 36 and 19 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Most parts of the country are favorable for rains and thunderstorm activities in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted. (NAN)
