Kano, April 5, 2018 (NAN) The National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Thursday said it would intensify efforts in sensitising the populace to their rights and responsibilities.
The Kano State Director of NOA, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, disclosed this in Kano during a roundtable with the theme “Issues in Citizens-Security Agencies Relationship: Challenges and Way Forward.’’
“NOA will intensify efforts at sensitising the populace to their basic rights and responsibilities to ensure proper conduct among citizens.
“It will also enlighten security agencies to conduct their activities with human feelings by strictly adhering to their rules of engagement.
“We invite relevant stakeholders to come and find proper solutions on new development and to enhance close understanding between security agencies and the general public.
“This programme had been ongoing in many states, especially in Northern Nigeria which include Bauchi and Sokoto,’’ he said.
He added that NOA had officers in 774 local government areas of the country and offices in 44 local governments in Kano who would carry the message to the grassroots and the general public.
Also, the Commissioner of Police, represented by his assistant, Alhaji Aminu Gusau, said the programme would improve relationship between communities and security agencies in the state.
“This will enhance the confidence of the public to partner with security agencies to solve challenges facing the state and the country,’’ he said.
In his speech, the District Head of Gwarzo, Alhaji Shehu Kabir, said that government should mobilise all the security agencies and the public on peaceful coexistence. (NAN)
