Police arraign 2 teenagers for alleged cell phone theft

Abuja, April 9, 2018 (NAN)Two Teenagers- Ibrahim Abdulahi,19, and Abubakar Salisu, 18, were on Monday arraigned in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a cell phone worth N15, 500.

Abdullahi, a wheelbarrow pusher, and Salisu, a motor mechanic, of no fixed addresses, are being tried on a two-count charge of joint act and theft, offences they denied committing.

The judge, Mr Abubakar sadiq, granted both defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with a surety each in like sum.

Sadiq adjourned the matter until May 3, for hearing.

Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Mr Dalhatu Zannah, had informed the court that on April 3, one Adamu Aminu of Jabi Daki Biyu village, Abuja, reported the matter at Life Camp Police Station.

Zannah alleged that on April 2, the defendants ambushed the complainant, stole his N6,500 and his cell phone, valued at N15, 500, and ran away.

The prosecutor said that the defendants were later arrested, while the offences contravened Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
