China’s agricultural product wholesale prices surge

Beijing, Oct. 11, 2019 (Xinhua/NAN) China’s wholesale prices of agricultural products went up on Friday, according to a report released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

According to the report, the agricultural product wholesale price index stood at 113.35, up 0.39 points from the previous day.

The average wholesale price of pork grew 2.8 per cent from the previous day to 41.6 yuan ($5.88) per kg, while the figure for eggs fell 0.5 per cent to 10.48 yuan per kg.

However, the average price of 28 types of vegetables, monitored by the government, rose 1.6 per cent to 3.75 yuan per kg, while that of six types of fruits dropped 1.3 per cent to 5.25 yuan per kg.

The index was compiled from data collected from around 200 agricultural wholesale markets and updated daily based on the weighted average of price indices for goods including vegetables, fruit, aquatic products, livestock products and cereals. (Xinhua/NAN)
