Promotion: minister tasks officers on internal security, service delivery ‎

Abuja, July 17, 2017 (NAN)‎ The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau has tasked 16 newly promoted Deputy Controllers-General (DCGs) of three Services under the ministry on internal security and service delivery.

The minister gave the charge on Monday in Abuja at the decoration of the newly promoted DCGs from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that five NIS officers were promoted to Deputy Comptrollers-General, five NPS officers to Deputy Controllers-General and six NSCDC officers to Deputy Commandants-General.

They were promoted from the ranks of Assistant Controller-General (ACG) to DCG.

Dambazau called on the officers to see their promotion, especially at this challenging time, as a call to national duty and an avenue to transform‎ their operations.

“I want to congratulate you and remind you that to whom much is given much is expected, we have a lot challenges, especially as regards efforts to reform the service and ensure internal security,’’ he said.

The minister said that the Federal Government was committed to‎ border security, Prisons reforms and protection of lives, property and critical infrastructure.

DCG Inusa Dauda of the NIS who responded on behalf of his colleagues pledged their commitment to improving service delivery to Nigeria.

He said the various Services would ensure the implementation of the various reforms so as to reposition the‎ Services in line with international best practices. (NAN)
