Ramadan: Nasarawa Speaker urges Muslims to pray for peace, unity

Lafia, May 6, 2019 (NAN) Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly,  Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, has called on the Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan to re-dedicate themselves to God and imbibe the lessons of piety, obedience and sacrifice.

The speaker, who made the call on Monday in Lafia in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamina, also urged Muslims to pray for peace and unity in the country.

 

He implored Muslims to seek maximum benefits from the Ramadan period “by being helpful to all manner of people, and follow the true message of the religion as taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad.” (SWA)

 

The speaker urged Muslims to use the holy period to pray for peace, security and solution to other emerging challenges facing the nation.

 

The statement quoted the speaker as congratulating the Muslims for successfully witnessing the new and holy month of Ramadan.

 

“I am imploring Muslims to adhere to the norms and virtues of the Holy month of Ramadan by using it to intensify prayers for the state and the country at large as well as its leadership,” he said.

 

Balarabe-Abdullahi added, “there is the need for believers to use the period to build harmonious co-existence with fellow citizens, uphold the virtues of peace, tolerance and love for the progress of the society.”

 

The state’s number three citizen, also called on the wealthy individuals to assist the less privileged ones during and after the period in order to improve on their standard of living.

 

Balarabe-Abdullahi called on the people of the State and Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and not to engage in acts capable of tarnishing their image and the image of the country at large.

 

He assured the people of the state of the assembly’s continued commitment to passing resolutions and bills that would promote peace and improve on the standard of living of the people of the state.(NAN)
