Lagos, May 19, 2017 (NAN) A sales representative, Charles Okoro, who allegedly altered his employer’s sales records and stole N2.62 million, on Friday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Forty-one-year-old Okoro, whose address was not given, is facing a four-count charge bordering on altercation, stealing and intent to deceive.
The prosecutor, Insp. Adebayo Oladele, told the court that the accused committed the offences from 2013 to July 2016 at No. 40, Akin Adesola St., Victoria Island, Lagos.
Oladele said that the accused, an employee of Sims Nig. Ltd., altered the records the company had with Exxon Mobil with the intent to mislead the company.
“The accused was arrested after the books were audited and he could not account for N2.62 million,’’ he said.
Oladele said that the offences contravened Sections 314, 335, 336 and 337 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Ajibade, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that both of the sureties should be gainfully employed, and that one must be a blood relation of the accused.
Ajibade adjourned the case until June 22 for mention. (NAN)
