Security guard bags 2 months jail term for stealing television

Abuja, May 18, 2017 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced a 25-year old security guard, Mose Ayaka, to two months imprisonment for stealing a television set.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ayaka of Zadox Security Abuja was arraigned, on a count charge of theft.
Ayaka pleaded guilty to the allegations levelled against him and prayed the court to temper justice with mercy.
“I am sorry for stealing and I am pleading with the court to temper justices with mercy.
“ I did it out of frustration; I promise not to steal again; please sir forgive me.’’ the convict pleaded.
The judge, Mr Abubakar sadiq , however, sentenced Ayaka to two months in prison with an option of N10, 000 fine.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Mr Dalhatu Zannah, had told the court that on May 4, one Stanly Ohaniche of Cerry Hill plaza Utako Abuja reported the matter at the Utako Police Station.
Zannah informed the court that the convict who was posted to Cherry Hill plaza as a security guard stole a 40-inch plasma television and one air condition which value was unknown.
He said that during police investigation the convict admitted to have committed the offence.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened section 288 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
