Nasarawa Speaker drums support for Gwagwalada Chairman

Lafia, March 17, 2020 (NAN) The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, has urged members of Gwagwalada Legislative Council, FCT-Abuja, to cooperate and support the council Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha  for the progress of the area.

Abdullahi made the call while receiving the legislative arm of the council in his office on Tuesday in Lafia.

He said the synergy between the executive and legislative arms was necessary for the overall development of the area.

The speaker said such support was also imperative considering the role of the legislature to societal development.

He added that every leader needed the support of his people to succeed, hence the need for his appeal.

According to him, cordial relationship between the three arms of government, judiciary inclusive, would deepen democracy and its gains.

“I want to express my happiness with your visit as it will go a long way in improving on your legislative skills.

“I want to call on you to give your council boss the much needed support to succeed.

“As you are partners in progress, continue to work in synergy with your council’s chairman for peace, growth and overall development of the area and the country at large,” he said.

Besid3s, Abdullahi urged the councilors to always pass good resolutions and enact laws that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the area.

He promised to give the legislative council all the needed support in carrying out their legislative duties.

Earlier, Mr Yunusa Mohammed, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Gwagwalada Area Council,explained that their visit was mainly to witness the House proceedings and learn some lessons.

Mohammed said that the visit would enable them to gain more leadership qualities from the state legislators. (NAN)
