Abuja, Aug. 18, 2018 (NAN) The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has faulted the recent comments by Sokoto State Gov. Aminu Tambuwal against President Muhammadu Buhari, describing such as unfortunate, ill-conceived and a total assault on African cultural values.
The Chairman and the Secretary of the group, Messrs Niyi Akinsiju and Cassidy Madueke, respectively, said this in a statement in Abuja on Saturday.
The BMO said that Tambuwal had in recent time engaged in deliberate campaign of calumny against the President and warned that the governor was on a road to perdition just like Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State in 2015.
“This infamous style of politics belonged in the past and it is necessary to remind Tambuwal that it is not African tradition for young people to insult their elders and such negative attitude usually had its consequences.
“We also advise Governor Tambuwal to draw a lesson from what happened to Ayo Fayose in the last Ekiti governorship election, as he was roundly rejected by the electorate due to his non-performance and unguarded utterances.
“We also want to assure Tambuwal that his case will not be different from that of Ayo Fayose, as he will not only be rejected as the next governor of Sokoto state, but his presidential ambition will remain a pipe-dream.
“As he has not only denied his people development but has wasted the scarce resources he ordinarily should have used to render service to the good people of Sokoto state,” the statement read in part.
The group predicted that Tambuwal would definitely go into political oblivion in 2019 as he was already running against the tide.
The organisation also reminded Tambuwal that Buhari’s integrity and track record were clear for everyone to see, and this was the reason for their continued support for him and those he supported in elections.
According to the BMO, the support also manifested in the recent by-elections in Bauchi, Kogi and Katsina states where the All Progressives Congress (APC) trounced all their opponents including Tambuwal’s PDP.
The group expressed optimism that Buhari would win the next presidential election with a landslide. (NAN)

Insecurity: Group faults Northern elders, Afenifere

Abuja, July 24, 2018 (NAN) The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has faulted allegations of government complicity in killings in some parts of the country.
The group said this in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Mr Niyi Akinsiju, and Secretary, Mr Cassidy Madueke, in Abuja on Tuesday.
Some senior citizens under the aegis of Northern Elders Forum and Afenifere had recently criticised the Federal Government of not doing enough to curb spate of crises and insecurity in parts of the country.

But the BMO advised senior citizens, who many of them were in their eighties, against making unverifiable claims.
The organisation also accused the sectional leaders who converged on Abuja recently of playing the ostrich at a time they should join hands with the Buhari administration to end the bloodletting.
“Any one accusing President Buhari of not doing anything is simply playing to the gallery as, only a few days ago, the Presidency released a list of 22 security measures the government had taken to combat all forms of criminality and banditry in the country.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Army launched operation Ayem Akpatuma covering 17 states, including Benue and Nasarawa states, to stem the tide of herdsmen/farmers clashes.
“They later deployed air assets including combat helicopters in Benue, Taraba and Zamfara to support the fight against banditry.
“Only this month, the President approved the establishment of Operation WHIRL STROKE II, for deployment in Zamfara and Kaduna States,” the group explained.
The organisation also recalled that the Police recently took the fight to Boko Haram camps in Borno and Yobe states where 22 insurgents including sub-commanders and eight suspected abductors of over 200 Chibok girls in 2014 were arrested.
Besides, the BMO advised the elders to avoid a path that would open them up to ridicule especially as they were beneficiaries in the old patronage system.
“It is a known fact that some of those who gathered in Abuja benefitted from the sleaze of recent past, including funds meant for security issues.
“Now they are turning around to condemn acts that they were indirectly responsible for.
“We challenge them to outline clear efforts they made in the past to foster peaceful relations in places now affected by crisis that have roots in age-long ethnic rivalries.”
According to the organisation, it is surprising that senior citizens who should be involved in the search for peace in places where there are communal crisis prefer to play politics by throwing blames to the government at the centre.
The group also urged Nigerians to prepare for more anti-Buhari rhetorics from such groups in coming months, especially as the 2019 elections were a few months away. (NAN)

Group drums support for Buhari’s antigraft crusade

Abuja, July 21, 2018 (NAN) The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has called on patriotic and selfless Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign to fast track national development.
The organisation made the appeal in a statement jointly issued by its Chairman and Secretary, Messrs Niyi Akinsiju and Cassidy Madueke, respectively, on Saturday in Abuja.
They expressed shock over the revelation of $2 trillion looted funds recovered in the last 18 years in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, on July 17 reiterated the resolve of the House not to continue to look on as confusion trails the recovery of looted funds and assets estimated at $2 trillion.
Dogara underscored the need to ascertain the status of recovered public funds and assets from 1999 to date.
He said: “It is common knowledge that there are a lot of conflicting reports and claims from various agencies of government concerning the status of the funds and assets recovered from some citizens and corporate entities by law enforcement agencies.
“As a Parliament, we cannot fold our arms and allow the confusion trailing the whereabouts of the recovered funds and assets to continue.
“This is why the House of Representatives resolved to mandate this Joint Committee to investigate the issue in the interest of accountability and transparency.”
Reacting to this development from the legislature via the statement, the group noted that the revelation of the $2trillion looted funds recovered in the last 18 years was cause for serious concern.
The organisation stated that what was more worrisome was the apathy of Nigerians to the revelation.
“It is surprising that this information has not evoked widespread condemnation from the citizenry considering the huge amount involved.
“It is on record that Nigeria has never budgeted up to USD100 Billion since the return to democracy, and here we are today discovering that few people looted more than USD2 Trillion in this country.
“And this is a country that has serious infrastructure deficit, where there is not enough supply of Electricity to power Manufacturing Industries and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise since 1999.
“Our citizens are killed on daily basis because the roads motorists ply are not fixed for many years; some since the colonial time.
“The Education Sector is no better, with the higher institutions churning out graduates that are mostly unemployable,’’ they said.
The group noted that these were direct consequences of the unprecedented looting that happened in the last 18 years, 16 of which were superintended by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the organisation, if this does not offend Nigerians to condemn the leadership of the PDP, then there may not be hope for the future generations. (NAN)

Abuja, July 5, 2018 (NAN) The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) on Thursday alerted Nigerians to the nocturnal meetings being held by some politicians and past leaders, in and out of the country, to cause disorder.
The Chairman of BMO, Mr Austin Braimoh, raised the alarm in a statement in Abuja.
Braimoh said the meetings were parts of their alleged agenda to cause public disaffection and disorder in the country.
According to him, the primary objective of the sponsors is to stop the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 general election.
“This group of Nigerians were powerful in the past and misused the opportunity of running the affairs of this country while in position of authority.
“They are opposed to the anti-corruption action of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari because they directly or indirectly contributed to the economic adversity of the country,” he said.
The BMO chairman said that instead of these questionable leaders to apologise to Nigerians on the ignoble roles they played in ruining the economy, they have chosen to embark on campaign of calumny and mis-information against the country, under the guise of exercising their freedom of expression.
“It is ironic that while President Muhammadu Buhari is working hard to rebuild the economy, restore the image of Nigeria in the international community and take its rightful place in the comity of nations,
“these politicians are out there portraying the country in bad light, be-littling its status as a medium power in the world and discouraging foreign investors,” Braimoh added.
While advising them to retrace their steps, he described such plans as “regrettable that people of their calibre have chosen to downgrade their status by their action’’.
He also urged those involved in the perpetuation of this evil to support the current administration in its ongoing serious infrastructural development effort aimed at repositioning the country for the benefit of all Nigerians. (NAN)
