APC Senatorial candidate delivers 61 functional boreholes, 7 transformers to Nasarawa communities

Iggah (Nasarawa State), Feb. 12, 2019 (NAN) Mr Godiya Akwashiki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Nasarawa North, on Tuesday said he has delivered 61 functional boreholes and seven transformers to communities in Nasarawa Eggon West state constituency to boost water and electricity supply in the area.
Akwashiki, who is currently the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, made this known while fielding questions from newsmen after inaugurating various projects during his campaign rally at Mada Station, Kagbu, Iggah/Brumbrum and Ikka/Wangibi electoral wards of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Akwashiki has inaugurated more than 15 boreholes, seven transformers across the electoral wards in his constituency.
Akwashiki told the benefitting communities that he also constructed two railway crossovers, built markets, blocks of classrooms, town halls and rural roads in order to better their standard of living.
“From 2011 to date, I have sunk 29 motorised boreholes, 32 hand pump boreholes making a total of 61 boreholes, donated seven 500 KVA transformers, built schools and assisted students with scholarship, among other gestures,’’ according to him.
He added that he constructed five bridges and culverts in order to connect his constituents and boost their agricultural and socio-economic activities.
“What you have seen is just a tip of an iceberg. Please send me to the National Assembly, I will do more and you will see a lot of positive changes if elected on Feb. 16,” he said.
Akwashiki explained that he provided the social amenities and infrastructure in order to tackle water scarcity, boost standard of education and improve the lives of our people.
The deputy speaker appreciated his constituents for giving him the maximum support to succeed from 2011 to date.
He therefore appealed to the electorate to support and vote for him and other APC candidates in the upcoming elections.
Akwashiki also promised to carry everybody along and to key into positive policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of Nigerians.
The APC senatorial candidate further promised effective legislation and quality representation, if elected to the red chamber.
He advised the electorate and other Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and to vote peacefully in the interest of development.
Responding, Mr Allen Masin, the Deputy Chairman, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Council, commended Akwashiki for embarking on people oriented projects in his constituency.
He noted that Akwashiki would attract positive development to the area considering the candidate’s recorded achievements, if given the mandate. (NAN)

Alushi (Nasarawa State), Feb. 2, 2019 (NAN) Mr Godiya Akwashiki, the All Progressives  Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Nasarawa North Senatorial district, has promised to initiate different skills acquisition programmes in order to create jobs for his constituents, if elected on Feb. 16.

Akwashiki, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, made the promise on Saturday while addressing APC supporters at Alushi/Ginda and Wakama electoral wards of Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

Akwashiki, who represent Nassarawa Eggon West constituency at the state legislature, said that initiating different skills acquisition programmes would help in tackling unemployment as well as make youths and women to be self reliant.

According to him, “send me to the National Assembly and see what I am going to do for you. I am having good blue prints for the zone if elected”.

“I will embark on massive infrastructural development as well as initiate different skills acquisition programmes in order to better the standard of living of people in this senatorial district.

“If elected, I will influence the provision of electricity, water supply and road construction, among others, in the interest of development,” he said.

Akwashiki said that he would also give adequate attention to the education sector by development of schools and the welfare of students.

He urged the electorate to vote for him, President Buhari and  other APC candidates during the 2019 elections in order to continue to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

“Some of you knows me and are aware of my achievements while some of you are seeing me for the first time, please vote for me and see what I am going to do for you and the entire zone if elected.

“As a present member,vmy records and my achievements are there and straight forward for every one to see.

“The people of my constituency and the state at large can testify to what I have done from 2011 to date towards bettering the standard of living of my people.

“I have done a lot, I will do more and you will see a lot of positive changes if elected on Feb. 16”, he said.

Akwashiki urged the electorate to vote all APC candidates at all levels during the elections.

The APC senatorial candidate further promised effective representation while pledging to carry everybody along to move the zone forward.

Mr Emmanuel Yaro, the Overseer, Aku Development Area of the state, urged the people of the area and Nigerians to vote APC candidates at all levels.

He assured Akwashiki and other APC candidates of his readiness to mobilise people to vote for all the party’s candidates during the polls.  (NAN)

Akwanga (Nasarawa State), Jan.v26, 2019v(NAN) Mr Godiya Akwashiki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Nasarawa North, has promised to embark on massive infrastructural development across communities in the area, if elected on Feb. 16.

This is to better the standard of living of the people of the district and the state at large, he told the electorate on Saturday during a campaign.

Akwashiki, currently Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, made the promise while addressing APC supporters at Agyaga, Gwanje and Moroa electoral wards of Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

Akwashiki, who represent Nasarawa Eggon West constituency at the state legislature, urged the electorate to vote for him, President Muhammadu Buhari and all other APC candidates in the upcoming general elections in order to continue to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

He promised to rehabilitate Nunku/Agyaga and Gwanje roads in the next two weeks in order to reduce the plight of residents plying the road and also to boost their agricultural and socio-economic activities.

“Also within next week, I will sink some boreholes in Gwanje ward, reactivate some boreholes in Moroa ward as well as construct a culvert along Moroa road.

“If elected into the red chamber in the forthcoming elections, I will provide more infrastructural facilities like electricity among other amenities, as empowerment programmes for the youth and women.

“As I always said, my records and my achievements are there and straight forward for everyone to see.

“The people of my constituency and the state at large can testify to what I have done from 2011 to date towards bettering the standard of living of my people.

“I have done a lot, I will do more and you will see a lot of positive changes if elected on Feb. 16,” he said.

The APC senatorial candidate further promised a robust legislature and sound representation, if given the mandate.

Besides, he also advised the electorate who were yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do so.

“This is to enable you vote in President Buhari and other APC candidates during the forthcoming elections and beyond,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the stakeholders and party supporters who spoke during the rally commended Akwashiki for his continued assistance to the people and communities across the state.

NAN also reports that other wards visited by Akwashiki and his entourage include Nunku Andaha, Ningo, Ningha’an, Ancho, Gudi, Akwanga West and Akwanga East wards. (NAN)

Yola, Jan. 10, 2019 (NAN) Yola Federal High Court presided by Justice Abdul-Azeez Anka has ruled in favour of accelerated hearing in a case challenging the authenticity of member representing Madagali constituency in Adamawa House of Assembly, Mr Emmanuel Tsamdu, as the candidate of APC in 2019 election.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the immediate-past chairman of Madagali Local Government Council, Mr Yusuf Mohammed, is challenging the nomination of the incumbent (Tsamdu), who he alleged did not participate in the APC Primaries held on Oct. 7, 2018, as its candidate for the Madagali State Constituency.
Other defendants are the APC and INEC.
Mohammed is asking the court to declare null and void, the replacement of his name with that of Tsamdu, and to declare him as the authentic candidate of the APC for Madagali state constituency
Ruling on the request for accelerated hearing by counsel to the plaintiff, Justice Anka said based on the nature of the case and the fact that two moths had lapsed out of the required 180 days required for the case, the court has given 10 days as against three weeks for counsels to conclude all court processes.
Anka also granted the plaintiff request to serve the APC and INEC all processes through their offices in Yola.
Earlier, at the mention of the case on Thursday, counsel to the plaintiff, Mr Akanmode Abayomi who pleaded for accelerated hearing in view of the approaching election, suggested two days for filing and responding to court proceedings.
Abayomi argued that the matter to be determined by court was just one issue, which is who among his client (Mohammed) and Tsamdu, who also tendered a different result sheet, has the authentic result sheet for APC House of Assembly primary.
In his response, counsel to Tsamdu and APC (1st and 2nd respondents), Mr Ibrahim Bawa (SAN), argued that three weeks was the period approved by law and that there was no law that said pre-election matter must be determined before the election.
Justice Anka however fixed Jan. 25 for further mention of the case. (NAN)

Donald Duke to appeal judgment removing him as SDP presidential candidate

Lagos, Dec. 14, l2018 (NAN) Mr Donald Duke, the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), says he will appeal the judgment removing him as the party’s presidential flag bearer.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday declared Prof. Jerry Gana, a former Nigerian Minister of Information, as the presidential candidate of the SDP.

Duke had been declared as the presidential candidate of the party after the primary election held in October 2018 in which Gana was also an aspirant.

However, Gana had instituted a case against the result in court, basing his case on the zoning and rotation formula of the party.

Giving his ruling, Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf said: “In this instance, the party’s Chairman, Chief Olu Falae, is from the South and Duke is from the South too; the law is clear; there is nothing to write in-between.

“The law has crystallised that political parties should abide by the regulations which they have made by themselves.

 

“The claimant laid sufficient evidence to have the judgment in his favour; it is a clear violation of the party’s constitution; the court cannot wave right over illegality.”

“Duke’s votes were declared null and void and the judge declared that Gana was the winner of the election.

 

“The SDP was also ordered to forward Gana’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) as its candidate for the 2019 general election.

Duke told Newsmen in Lagos that: “While we await a copy of the judgement for a detailed review, it is imperative we reiterate our constitutionally backed belief.

 

” Every Nigerian who meets the legal requirement is entitled to contest for the office of the President.”

“ Any Law that seeks to curtail or subvert that right under any guise is unconstitutional, null and void and of no effect.

“The delegates of our great party at its Convention in October, overwhelmingly elected me as their presidential Flag-bearer

 

“Any attempt to subvert their wishes through the instrumentality of the courts will be challenged.

“As a Law abiding citizen, I urge my supporters and members to remain calm as we are confident that the decision of the Court will be upturned on appeal.

“We are optimistic that the Appellate Court will reach a decision that reinforces the essential tenets of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

 

He said his optimism was  in line withbthe wishes of members of the Social Democratic Party.

Zaria (Kaduna State), Oct. 24, 2018 (NAN) Alhaji Mustapha Othman-Bakano, the gubernatorial candidate of African People’s Alliance Party (APAP) in Kaduna State has pledged to introduce decentralised governance in the state, if elected.
He disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after paying homage on the Emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris, in his palace on Wednesday in Zaria, Kaduna state.
“We want to ensure social justice, the first agenda in the social justice is to decentralise governance in Kaduna State.
“We want to give the Local Government 101 per cent autonomy, we want to make sure that there is no anything like joint account or whatsoever,” said the candidate.
He also promised to abolish the State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) and allow INEC to conduct all local government council elections to give everybody a sense of belonging.
“People should have the capacity to hold somebody responsible, you can’t be a governor and have 23 local government areas and everybody surrounded by you and nobody at the lower level knows who is the governor.
“When you decentralise governance, then at the centre, you will have no money to play with, you have to be creative to be able to come up with the kind of resources required to develop,” he said.
He recalled that a lot of people had promised a greater chance and a greater development for the state, yet so far people have not seen anything.
“In view of this, we decided to come-up with new development that will actually give Kaduna what we are expecting it to be.
“That is what actually motivated me to contest, I have a key important vision for the state.
“This vision include: integrated development programmes; cottage industrial development; create medical tourism for the state which will not come from the state resources.
“The fourth one is education, of course apart from the decay in the infrastructure, we are looking at how we can improve in human capital development, and the fifth is social justice,” he promised.
On the recent crisis in the state, Othman-Bakano attributed to it to joblessness among unemployed and restive youths, saying from reports, what triggered the crisis is “something very-very little’’.
He, however, promised to use his Cottage Industrial Development Plan to as from May 29 engage not less than 100,000 youths off the streets.
“When you have people especially youths gainfully employed, somebody don’t need to go back to join any violence or engage in social vices anymore,” the candidate said.
Othman-Bakano therefore appealed to electorate to vote for candidates with credibility, integrity and vision.
The candidate had earlier told the Emir that he was in the palace to seek royal blessings and to formally inform him of his intention to contest the governorship of the state.
Othman-Bakano lauded the efforts of the traditional ruler toward ensuring that peace prevails across the state.
He said his aspiration was informed by his desire to bring positive development to the state apart from taking Zazzau emirate to the next level of development.
Responding, Idris thanked him for the visit and advised the candidate to go round and seek support from people across the state by notifying them of the good things he has for the state.
He charged all politicians to continue to relate with one another in harmony and ensure that peace remain their watchword. (NAN)

Abuja, Oct. 6, 2018 (NAN) The Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) on Saturday elected a farmer, Alhaji Ahmed Sakil, as its presidential flag bearer for the 2019 general elections.
Sakil, who was elected at the party’s primaries on Saturday in Abuja, promised to restore the nation’s lost glory in the agriculture, education and health sectors.
“Nigeria has the potential to be a developed nation and lead the way for other African countries to follow.
“This can only be achieved however with a genuine leader that would prioritise the major sectors of the economy that will spur development.
“I am the man that will do the job, I promise to transform all the sectors and declare free education and healthcare systems,’’ he said.
Sakil, an agro-based businessman, urged Nigerians to ensure to collect and use their voter cards for the elections to enable them exercise their franchise.
The Gombe state-born candidate is also an animal husbandry professional who is into cattle, poultry and horse care.
Prof. Bankole Okuwa, the National Chairman of UPN, said the party was not an ethnic one even though one of its premier leaders was from the South West.
Okuwa said that the candidate had better plans to transform the nation if elected, adding that Nigerians needed to embrace the party that would develop the country.
He said that the nation ought to turn around and much more modernised than its present status.
He said that the party’s ideas would be made into policies that would bring the required progress for Nigeria if given the mandate.
“So as we go into 2019, I urge all citizens to make the right choice for a better nation,’’ he said. (NAN)

Bauchi, Oct. 1, 2018 (NAN) A former minister of Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has emerged as the 2019 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Bala defeated tow other contestants; Sen. Abdul Ningi and Sen. Adamu Gumba, at the keenly contested primary election.
The Chairman, PDP Electoral Panel for the state, Chief Dan Orbih, announced that Mohammed scored 1,335 votes to emerge winner, while Ningi got 802 votes and Gumba polled 15 votes.
He noted that only 32 invalid votes were recorded during the election.
According to him, the election is free, fair, peaceful and conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution.
Orbih urged PDP members to remain loyal to the party and also work hard to reclaim the state.
He commended the delegates for their resilience and well behaved conduct during the exercise. (NAN)

Damaturu, Oct. 1, 2018 (NAN) The National Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Maimala Buni, has emerged the party’s governorship candidate in Yobe after defeating three others in the party’s primary in Damaturu.
Alhaji Umar Kareto, the Returning Officer of the election, announced the results on Monday.
Kareto said Buni polled 2,797 votes to defeat Rep. Sidi Karasuwa who scored 23 votes, Alhaji Umar Ali eight votes and Aji Kolo who netted four votes.
The election, which lasted for about 13 hours, was conducted peacefully with delegates from the 17 local government areas of the state.
The returning officer commended the governorship aspirants and their supporters for their cooperation during the primary and acceptance of the result.
Karasuwa, a serving member of the House of Representatives, conceded defeat and pledged to work for the success of the candidate and party in the 2019 general elections.
Similarly, Alhaji Umar Ali said the primary was a family affair and pledged to commit his political structure to ensure the victory of the party in the 2019 polls.
In his acceptance speech, Buni commended delegates of the party for the confidence reposed in him, saying it is a collective victory for all the contestants and the APC.
He assured that he would run an all inclusive administration that would carry everyone on board to enhance the development of the state.
Dr Ahmed Lawan, the Leader of the Senate, congratulated the candidate, other aspirants and party supporters for the hitch-free conduct of the election.
He said members of the party had exhibited uncommon unity and passion for the party’s growth and development of the state.
The senate leader also commended the three other aspirants for conceding defeat, describing them as compatriots with the spirit of sportsmanship. (NAN)

Ibadan, Oct. 1, 2018 (NAN) Mr Adebayo Adelabu, a former CBN deputy governor and governorship aspirant has emerged the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.
Mr Demola Seriki, the Chairman of the Congress Committee, declared Adelabu as the party’s flag bearer after a primary election on Monday morning at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Ibadan.
Adelabu was announced the winner having polled 4,889 votes to defeat Alao-Akala and Adeduntan, who polled 65 and seven votes, respectively.
Seriki said that 205 void votes were recorded out of the 5,203 accredited delegates for the exercise which ended lasted till the early hours of Monday.
He commended the aspirants and delegates for their orderliness, saying the process is transparent, free and fair.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the national secretariat of the party had earlier cleared seven aspirants from the state to participate in the governorship primaries.
The seven aspirants were Adelabu, Alao-Akala, Adeduntan, Dr Olusola Ayandele, Mr Joseph Tegbe, Dr Owolabi Babalola and Chief Niyi Akintola.
But four of the aspirants, namely Ayandele, Tegbe, Babalola and Akintola announced their withdrawal from the race at the venue of the primaries.
The duo of Alao-Akala and Adeduntan were absent at the primaries and had on Saturday through different statements announced their decision to stay away from the primaries.
In his acceptance speech, Adelabu thanked Gov. Abiola Ajimobi and party members for their support, pledging not to disappoint them.
He stated that the governor has raised the bar of governance in the state with several legacies, promising to continue with the template.
The governorship candidate said that there was no winner and loser in the contest, saying they will all work together to make the state greater.
NAN also reports that the primary election was attended by Ajimobi; his wife, Florence; the Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Adeyemo; and the Speaker, Mr Joshua Ojo, among others. (NAN)
